As the client partner for the national clinical negligence team, Sian oversees the delivery of advice to health clients on their most complex, high-profile, and sensitive cases across our national offices.
Sian is a recognised expert in maternity claims, with extensive experience working in this area at the forefront of society’s biggest issues. She established and led the firm’s specialist early maternity team, focused on supporting the work carried out by NHS Resolution’s Early Notification team, through the early investigation of maternity incidents where babies are born with a potentially severe brain injury. This has grown into a market leading specialist maternity division, supporting maternity services and their staff with sensitive incident investigation, dispute resolution, regulatory issues and quality improvement work..
With considerable experience supporting services under scrutiny, Sian provides insights, identifies areas for improvement and handles group litigation in a compassionate manner. She is an advocate for collaboration and Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR), having managed many high-profile and sensitive mediations, including one of the first mediations in an early notification case, and mediations focused solely on providing reassurance on lessons learned. Her approach is driven by a commitment to putting people first.
Sian is passionate about working with health clients to improve patient safety, drawing on her previous experience working within an NHS Trust in a patient safety role. She offers advice and support on the implementation of the Patient Safety Incident Response Framework (PSIRF), arranges collaboration events to share learning, provides quality assurance for boards, and delivers training at board level on roles and responsibilities to ensure scrutiny and oversight.
Having originally trained at the firm, Sian is proud to be a member of the °ÄÃÅÁùºÏ²Ê×ÊÁÏ Board, overseeing the delivery of the firm's strategy, governance, and risks.
